About Me

I've always believed in pushing my limits.

Just...well, not athletically.  I'd devour books and try new activities, but running?  *gasp*  That was for immortal people.  And...people who ate lettuce as dessert.

I thought this dessert was MUCH better.
Before I started real training, this was my idea of a workout:

Spring 2009

I had never been an athlete.  With asthma landing me in the back of the pack, I struggled to run.  I dreamed of running a 5k.  I began by run-walking in intervals on the treadmill, and in the spring of 2009 I finally ran a mile for the first time!  In spring 2010, I joined the lacrosse team and ran twenty minutes at the first practice, and finally fulfilled my dream of running a 5k in 34:04 in June 2010.

I took a lot of time off from my goals to volunteer and to travel around the world.  It was an amazing experience, and I've now traveled to sixteen countries.

Donkey ride, anyone? (Greece, Spring 2009)

The dreams got bigger.  I worked by way up to running 45 minutes and shaved my mile time down from 12:30 to 8:00.  That moment was like:

KA-POW.  I'M A REAL RUNNER NOW WITH A SUB-9 MILE!!!!!!!!!!

But, crazy goal-setting person that I am, it wasn't quite enough.

I pushed myself in other ways, like skiing!

February 2011

But somehow, it wasn't enough.  I was hungry for more adventure.
Now I've got my sights set on the Walt Disney World Princess 1/2 Marathon.

After becoming injured, I now realize the importance of cross-training and REST!  So I'll be implementing swimming and biking into my routine, making the perfect goal a sprint triathlon early next spring.

Every day shouldn't be boring.  That's why I try to make every day an adventure, whether it's training, hanging out with my family and friends, or just living life.

  1. I really enjoy your little blurb so far! I LOVE reading about how people go from non-runners to runners totally surpassing their goals. It's addicting :) Best of luck with your training!

  3. Ahh I love the adventure theme of your blog! Awesome! And that's so cool that you've been to sixteen different countries! I went on a trip to Europe two years ago and now I'm totally obsessed with travel.

I want to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon someday too!
